Outside of my academic interests, the written word is my passion. Inspired by the 19th and early 20th century classics that I have loved for decades, I spend my time writing original fiction and working on translations of lesser known classic literature that are important for our understanding of history, literature, and the world beyond the traditional English literary canon.
What I Write
I am currently working on original fiction that explores lesser known scientific and medical professions in the late 19th century, with a focus on the first women who entered those professions. A lover of early detective and sensation novels, I also enjoy writing works with a strong mystery or thriller component.
What I Read
I am inspired by the works of Edith Wharton, Leo Tolstoy, Jane Austen, Wilkie Collins, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I also love modern authors like Ruth Ware and Jane Harper.
Translations
The translations I have worked on can be found on the translations page.
